Physiotherapy Assistant

We are seeking a Physiotherapy Assistant to join our dedicated Therapies team here at Portland College. In this role, you鈥檒l support the delivery of high-quality physiotherapy services to learners and citizens with a diverse range of needs.

The Key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Supporting the physiotherapists in delivering rehabilitation programmes through targeted exercises and treatments
  • Treating learners on an individual or group basis following agreed treatment plans
  • Assisting with physiotherapy sessions, including hydrotherapy and supervised classes
  • Encouraging and motivating individuals to maintain and improve their independence
  • Monitoring and reporting progress and maintaining accurate and up-to-date records in line with professional standards
  • Carrying out safe moving and handling practices, demonstrating safe use of physiotherapy equipment
  • Contributing to a high-quality hydrotherapy service
  • Undertaking demanding physical activity in varying environments. E.g. supporting learners to carry out stretching activities; completing and demonstrating exercises in the hydrotherapy pool; supporting learners with poor balance in weight bearing positions; manual handling in multiple sessions per day in the gym and hydrotherapy (high temperature environment), including personal care.

We are looking for someone:

  • Who is reliable, flexible and self-motivated with strong communication skills.
  • Who has the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Who can follow treatment plans and adapt to individual needs
  • Who has IT and record-keeping skills with a strong attention to detail
  • With knowledge of safeguarding and safe working practices
  • Who has some experience of working in a rehabilitation/care/education environment with individuals who have a range of complex needs
  • With knowledge of anatomy, physiology or hydrotherapy

As this role involves regulated activity, we will be required to carry out an enhanced with barred lists DBS check as part of our pre-employment checks.

Working Hours

Monday 鈥 Thursday working between the hours 9:30am 鈥 5:00pm. Specific hours to be confirmed and can be discussed at interview.
